The Mole West in an elegant restaurant located in the surroundings of Vienna, at the Neusiedler See, the typical recreational area of the fancy Viennese, or in other words, the not so secret getaway, since it is just about 50 km (30 miles) outside of Vienna’s city center.
Here in the Mole West restaurant you take place on the pier right at the lakeside, and you can feel that your pace will become slower and slower. It is totally relaxing here at this popular lake, the Neusiedler See, one of Europe’s largest steppe lakes which is at its deepest point less than 2 meters (6 feet) deep.
But have a look for yourself:
We got a Moroccan Stew, a beef in mint herb sauce and saffron rice, as well as Spaghetti Bolognese with parmesan. Both were delicious albeit the Moroccan Stew tasted a little peculiar, but since it was my first Moroccan dish, I guess it had to be that way.
The staff is friendly at this touristy place but the prices are in the upper midrange segment. So for your money you get much lakeside and atmosphere.
And here you can enjoy the photos in the slide show:
The Bottom Line: The Mole West, located in the Seegelände 9, in 7100 Neusiedl am See, is the perfect getaway for Viennese just having some hours free, since it is just a little more than 30 minutes drive outside of Vienna. Of course this place right at the lakeside terrace is also ideal if you want to stay longer. It is super relaxing here.
