The Palmenhaus in Old Town Vienna – Once the Greenhouse of the Austrian-Hungarian Emperor

Here at the Palmenhaus adjunct to the Schmetterlingshaus (Butterfly House of the Imperial Palace) you are in the aura of the Habsburg Monarchy, since it is located at the rear side of the famous Viennese Hofburg, the Imperial Palace of the Austrian-Hungarian Monarchy.

In the Palmenhaus you have a seat right in the middle of all the plants growing in this greenhouse. While you enjoy this very special atmosphere surrounded by flowers and plants, you can have a full meal or a coffee/chocolate/tea and dessert. We had a Café Melange and a Palmenhaustorte, a tart with marzipan and white chocolate cream, as well a hot chocolate and a Schokoladenmousse Tarte, which is a chocolate mousse tart. All the mentioned is very delicious and special in taste.

In general it is very relaxing to stay for a while here at the Palmenhaus, since the plants are helping you to come down after stressful business hours or a tight scheduled day of a tourist, rushing through Vienna in effort to get the most out of this lovely and elegant city.

But see for yourself:

And here you have the famous slide show:

The Bottom Line: The Palmenhaus located at the Burggarten 1, in 1010 Vienna, on the rear side of the Imperial Palace, called the Hofburg, you can enjoy true splendor and a marvelous view onto the Imperial Gardens.
